70’s Hair Flicks and Disco Hair
Section the hair off at the front of the head in line with the ears.
At the back of the hair do curls in a brickwork pattern using curling tongs horizontally.
At the sides of the hair angle the curls so they are more vertical until you get in line with the ears.
Then do the curls horizontally again.
Complete a centre parting or a just off centre parting in the section of hair at the front.
Create at least four sections each side and curl the hair backwards vertically, angling the curls slightly around the head.
Allow the curls to cool and set.
Use a pin tail comb to dress out the curls at the back of the head and backcomb the underneath of the curls.
Do the same with the curls in the front section.
Then use a paddle brush to gentle brush the hair and to help you manipulate it into shape, using your hand to support the hair as you brush it.
Put a centre parting in the hair.
Frizz the hair starting at the bottom. Therefore section off the bottom of the hair but instead of doing the section straight across do a slight zig zag in the section. This is so the frizzy curls aren’t all in neat rows they will be more random.
Take a section of hair and do a figure of eight pattern around a gacier pin. Then secure it with a Kirby grip and use straighteners over the top.
Leave a gap between the frizz and the scalp of the hair especially near the parting if you want the hair to be flat at the parting or if you want it to look more like an afro then frizz right up to the parting.
If you want to create a more afro style of curls you can use
small things to create spiral curls. The best way to do it would be to alternate
between normal spiral curls and rope spiral curl where you twist the hair
before you curl it. Then pull out the curls and backcomb them to create the
frizz.
