Black eyeliner has been popular recently after its big comeback a few years ago. This look was popular in the 1940's and is seen now as it was back then as being very feminine. Recently in fashion, designers have strayed away from the traditional flicks to more creative lines with different textures. Designers have made black eyeliner very thin, very thick, flicked, smudge and many different looks to make their designs as individual as possible.

Red lipstick was the first lip colour to be developed in the way that we use lipstick today. It has been around for decades and different shades of it have gone in and out of fashion over the year. In the past few years nude and pale lip colours have been very popular however the red lip has made a come back this winter. Often when something comes back into fashion it is changed slightly to coincide with changes in fashion and culture. This has happen this season with purple tinted lipstick being very popular on catwalks for autumn/winter.

Metallic eyeshadow and liner are a big trend this season with many fashion designers showing metallic eye looks in their catwalk shows. I am going to incorporate this into my contemporary look as the dress my model is wearing has metallic gold buttons so I think a metallic eye shadow will work well with this.
